Architectural concept of the workshops

For the Workshops project, an NGDU industrial warehouse with high ceilings and panoramic windows was revitalized. The space includes areas for creative and craft work, living quarters for residents, a lecture hall, a library and an area for exhibitions and performances.

This building was not chosen by chance. Built of local limestone rock, Chupaev stone, it not only reminds of the early stages of urban development in Almetyevsk, but also emphasizes the connection of the city with its industrial history. The Nuvo Buro Group team carefully preserved key elements — stone walls, a crane girder and parts of the building decor — while adapting the structure for new challenges.

Art residence

(for artists from all over Russia)

Open call winners, selected by an expert council, receive curatorial support, a budget, a stipend and the opportunity to temporarily live and work in the open Workshops buildings. The residents organize open events for locals and guests of Almetyevsk. This helps to strengthen local connections and to rethink the cultural context of the city. In the season finale, residents present the results of their work in the Open Workshops.

Open Workshops

(for local artists from Tatarstan)

Local Open Workshops artists participate in a skills development program that caters to their interests and helps them unlock their creative potential. They get advice from experienced art specialists and assistance in realizing their ideas. At the end of the season there is a group exhibition of projects created during the Open Workshops.
